Most of my art from early years through college revolved around graphite and colored pencil drawings. The pieces that I created were realistic in style. My background in mechanical drawing helped tremendously with my drawing technique.
I earned a BA in Fine Art from Binghamton University in 1974 and an MA in Fine Art from SUNY Albany in 1978. For 20 years I owned and operated Artisan Signs in Binghamton, NY before becoming Senior Conceptual Artist at Lockheed Martin in Owego, New York from which I retired after thirteen years.
Over the last two years, my style has taken a complete about face and I am very intrigued with the world of abstract ideas or adjusted realism.
It’s an evolution employing mixed media of acrylics, thread, various papers, pastels, cloth, ink, whatever inspires me at the moment. Cutting, patching, overlapping layers to discover a dimensional adventure.
So much fun … give it a shot someday if time allows.
Personally, a better way to explain it is, “I love to paint what’s between the branches”. Take a look sometime at sunset and be fascinated by the negative space and designs that nature provides.
I hope you enjoy my artistic vision. Drop me an email anytime if you have questions about my art.
