SUNY Adirondack Summer Enrichment

SUNY Adirondack Continuing Education offers a full slate of summer programming for youth this summer. Returning programs include Summer Enrichment and STEAM Camp in addition to a new series of Adventure Sports programming.

The Summer Enrichment Program runs from July 11– 28, 2016 on the Queensbury Campus for students entering grades 4-10. Some new and exciting courses this year include Fort William Henry Archaeology, Spanish for Fun, Rescue Pets, Ring Those Chimes and Water Rockets. Summer Enrichment also includes an opportunity for students entering grades 11-12 to participate as a Faculty Assistant, assisting a Summer Enrichment faculty member in an area of interest while gaining valuable experience working with children and facilitating learning. This year’s program will also include the option of Aftercare for students from 3-5 pm.

In partnership with WSWHE BOCES, STEAM Camp is offered at Wilton Center from July 18 – 29, 2016 for students entering grades 9 & 10. This program will allow students to sample three different technology topic areas through problem-based learning: Green Architecture; Application Programming with Microsoft; and Pixar in a Box. Students will be involved in hands-on projects over the course of two weeks and will visit technology-focused businesses in our region.

New this summer, students from age 13 and up can participate in an Adventure Sports Experience. Students will explore our beautiful Lake George region and learn teambuilding and leadership skills in each of the three available programs: Adirondack Rock Camp, Lake George experience and WFA (Wilderness First Aid).

Scholarship funds are available for eligible students again this year. Scholarships are available to students who meet the criteria for free or reduced priced school lunches and are first come, first served. Contact the Office of Continuing Education directly for more information about scholarship opportunities.
