I Never Saw Another Butterfly – 70th Anniversary Holocaust remembrance play

I Never Saw Another Butterfly is a theatrical multi-media workshop play. This play is a 70th anniversary Holocaust remembrance project concerning the World War II Terezin Concentration Camp, sometimes known as the “Children’s Concentration Camp.” The play, a fictitious account of 15 of these children, is based on actual writings and drawings these children composed in this camp. Since NO graphic photos or video footage will be used, the workshop play is appropriate for all ages.

This play is being presented by “Theatre: It’s Just a Stage,” a drama workshop sponsored by the Kingsbury Recreation Commission’s fall program and by the Hudson River Music Hall’s Caravan Theatre. The cast consists of 15 students in grades 6-9. In addition, members of the Hudson Falls Senior High School’s Drama Club are assisting with all the technical work involved. Rene Roberge is the director.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly is one way in which the lessons of the past can be taught to students as well as to the people in our communities.

The play will be performed Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24, at 7:30 pm; and Sunday, October 25 at 2:00 pm.

All performances will be held on stage at the Hudson Falls Senior High School, 80 East LaBarge St., Hudson Falls, NY. There is no admission fee, but donations are encouraged and welcomed. Portions of the donations will go the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. For more information, please contact director Rene Roberge at 518.744.8561.
