| “the space within,” an exhibition of paintings by artists Marjorie Derrick and Ben Schwab, reflects both artists’ interest in the construction of space, the environment and the objects around us. By examining the space within, both Schwab’s renderings of urban landscapes and Derrick’s internal analysis of popped-corn, the viewer is left questioning matter, the configuration of parts and the catalysts of change. This is a compelling exhibition that motivates to de-construct the world around us in order to understand ourselves and entice the viewer to look beyond the chaos to the quiet stillness of what is not there, the space within. |
