AAUW Branch Luncheon Meeting

A Branch Luncheon Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Queensbury Hotel, 88 Ridge Street, Glens Falls, NY. Social time will begin at 11:30 am, with the luncheon served at 12:00 pm and the program to start at 1:00 pm.

Kim Sopczyk will be discussing “Food Insecurity”. She is the present Executive Director of Family Service Association of Glens Falls, Inc. Family Service Association of Glens Falls serves children, families and individuals who are facing a crisis and have been unable to secure assistance from the Department of Social Services of Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties. Prior to joining Family Services Association, Kim was an administrator and educator for the nutrition education program at Cornell Cooperative Extension Warren County. She also hosted a local PBS cooking show for two years that highlighted local produce and she continues to teach nutrition at Irongate Family Practice.

We encourage those attending to bring a food item(s) to this meeting so that the local pantry can be replenished after the Holidays. Possible suggested items are: oatmeal, cereals, canned fruit in water, low sodium soups, canned tuna and chicken.

Prospective members, and others interested in this important issue are welcome to attend to learn more. The deadline for reservations is January 3rd; see the web site (link below) for details and menu choices.
