WHAT IS LARAC?
The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC) is an arts service organization
for Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga Counties in New York State.
LARAC was formed in 1972 by a coalition of arts-minded residents, to unify
the arts and cultural community and establish a cultural identity.
Each year LARAC expands programs and services, evolving in response to community needs.
In 1998, LARAC took ownership of a former clothing store in the heart of
Glens Falls. The building was renovated and opened in early 1999 as New
York's first Arts Services Center. The building includes administrative
offices for LARAC and other arts and cultural organizations, as well as
meeting spaces and a gallery for display of regional art and craft work.
LARAC's goal is to insure the continuation of local arts and cultural
endeavors as enriching and supportive of the quality of life in the region.
LARAC is a regional arts agency of the New York State Council on the Arts,
and is a private, tax exempt 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. LARAC is
governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
