Ruth Sauer | ||
|
Ruth graduated from Connecticut College and studied art in Paris and New York. Ruth has led to a diversified career in and out of the art world. In addition to teaching art, designing and creating fabric prints, and her current work in her studio with acrylics and oils, she has also worked as an advocate for children with disabilities and administration work with the Ford Foundation. Ruths colorful acrylic and pastel stylistic abstracts on canvas and paper decorate the walls of the gallery at ARTS 220. The vibrant colors in her abstract landscapes bring a special life to the pieces. Ruth says her work comes from day dreams and night dreams as well as places she has visited. She says that she must sit back and absorb her travel experiences and react internally before she can begin to paint. Artist's Statement: "I believe my works recall sites that I have visited, imagined, or dreamt, and the imagery often reflects my connection with land, sky, and water. My recollections become the forms, colors, textures, shapes and light that I love to use in my work."
