The Upper Hudson Valley Watercolor Society is
among the most active arts groups in the region. Monthly meetings,
usually held at LARAC’s Arts Services Center, include demonstrations,
critiques, speakers and studio painting. The society sponsors an
annual bus trip to the American Watercolor Society’s annual show in
New York City each April and presents an annual non-juried member show
at Crandall Public Library. This year’s member exhibit is a themed
show featuring paintings of the Glens Falls Feeder Canal that will be
on view June 1 – 21. In addition, an on going, rotating show of
members’ work can be viewed at the Heritage Steak House in Lake
Luzerne.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in
watercolor, and current membership includes 70 members from four
states. Beginning as well as established painters are welcome, and the
group’s focus is to encourage, enhance, promote and support the talent
of its members.
On May 11, the Upper Hudson Valley Watercolor
Society will host a one-day watercolor workshop with noted artist
Richard Ochs, the third of an annual workshop series hosted by the
watercolor society featuring a well-known artist. During the upcoming
summer months, the society will be holding “paint out sessions” at
various locations throughout the region.
