In 1999, the Hudson River Shakespeare Company, Inc. produced its
initial Shakespeare Production, "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" under
the name Hudson Falls Community Theatre. HRSC's mission is to
present works of classic literature, with an emphasis on the plays
of William Shakespeare, to residents of the area to enjoy as both
performers and audience. Hudson River Shakespeare Company
believes that the quality of a performance experience for both the
audience and the performers is dependent on the material being
performed and the sincerity with which it is presented. To
that end the organization concentrate on classic literature, which has proven
its beauty and truth by maintaining its human appeal through the
ages.
HRSC works to maintain a clean, simple, and minimal
production style. The simplicity of their production style
not only places emphasis on the words and action of each
production but minimizes production expenses. This makes it
possible to keep their ticket prices affordable at $10 ticket, continue a high frequency of
productions, and offer many performance opportunities throughout
the year with no fee or other financial commitment from the
performers. This allows more accessibility to more people.
Since 1999, HRSC has kept a busy schedule.
