Three new exhibitions are on display at LARAC from July 11-Sept. 5 with an opening reception  on Friday, July 11 from 5-7 pm and is free and open to the public.

"Pink", Laura Colomb

Laura Colomb: Comfort Zones presents approximately 30 paintings completed within the past three years.  Colomb’s large scale oil paintings primarily depict interior spaces, intimate settings, and explore the dynamics of human relationships.

Colomb received a BFA from the College of Saint Rose and will begin MFA work at Boston College this fall.  She lives in Glens Falls and has served as LARAC’s Membership Coordinator and Gallery Services Assistant since 2000.

"Peace", David Shivetts
David Shivetts: Stone and Steel presents small and large scale sculpture that often represent configurations found in the practice of yoga.  Shivetts received BFA and MFA degrees from the San Francisco Art Institute, art education certification from the University of Pittsburgh, and has taught art at Queensbury High School since 1977.

LARAC also presents Great Works in Small Frames, a regional juried aquamedia show. Approximately 40 paintings, none larger than 14” square, are on display. The juror was Richard Ochs, charter member of the Northeast Watercolor Society, a well-known watercolor workshop instructor and winner of numerous watercolor awards. He maintains a studio in Newburg, NY.

 

 

PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP

In conjunction with Summer Exhibitions, LARAC will offer a printmaking workshop entitled "The Painterly Print" on Saturday, July 19, 2003 from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm.  Taught by area artist Elizabeth (Betty) O’Brien, participants will explore techniques of the monotype process using water based materials. The cost, which is $45, includes most materials.  The workshop will be held at Laura Walsh’s art studio in the Troy Shirt Factory, corner of Cooper and Lawrence Streets, Glens Falls.

RAFFLE

A raffle will be held in conjunction with the "Small Frames" exhibit.  Four watercolor artists have generously donated work for this occasions:  Elizabeth O'Brien, Eleanor Rowland, Laura Walsh, and Tom Ryan.  Tickets are available at LARAC for $5 each; each watercolor will be raffled separately on September 5, 2003.
