Bitter Freedom Celebration of Life

The exhibition is based on students’ reading of Bitter Freedom:  Memories of a Holocaust Survivor by Jafa Wallach and presentations by her daughter, Rena Bernstein, also a Holocaust survivor.  This exhibition is filled with  paintings, drawings, poetry, prose, and power point presentations from students in eighteen area schools.  Also featured are works by Rena Bernstein and other Holocaust survivors.

The reception will include a special program featuring music by opera singer Pat Phillips, proclamation by Mayor Akins, remarks by Holocaust survivor Rena Bernstein and Project Coordinator, Sunny Buchman, and benediction by Reverend LaMont Robinson.

Come to to reception to honor area Holocaust survivors and the artistic expressions of students celebrating the message of love and the strength of the human spirit triumphing over the horror of the Holocaust.

Cake and a specially created ice cream by Patty Bethel of Coopers Cave Ale Co., named “Celebration of Life” in honor of Jafa Wallach, will be served.

Additional underwriting provided by the Glens Falls Foundation, the Gloria Bittman Memorial Fund, Upper Mid-Atlantic Region of Hadassah, United Jewish Federation of Northeastern NY, and other private donors.
