Daniel Way: Hometown USA RevisitedIn 2000, Dr. Daniel Way received an Individual Artist Grant through LARAC's Arts Initiative Program, a grant program which redistributes funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program to artists who create work that interacts and/or impacts the community. Dr. Way's proposal was to update the LOOK magazine project of 1944 which had identified Glens Falls as "Hometown USA". His vision was to demonstrate the spirit of the city as well as to create a captivating time capsule of modern life in Glens Falls. The result is what you will see on display at the Lapham Gallery: photographs of local citizens (some familiar, some not) most in their working environments as well as local public landmarks. Accompanying each photograph is a one-page written vignette, that explains the meaning and impact of each photograph. | |
