"Although she emphasizes solid
forms and omits details,
there's a nostalgic, personal quality
to these paintings,
as if Dodge took old family photographs out
of storage
and laid them on the canvas."

"My current paintings reflect my earlier exploration of collage and
assemblage through my use of miniature paintings against a painted
image. Through this juxtaposition of images, I seek to create
a unique pictorial narrative suggesting simultaneous realities
within a theme. Through the use of found objects, I attempt
to create multidimensional realities, layering several paintings
against a landscape.
Thematically, I am interested in liberating images of people from
old photographs, post cards and antique sources to provide an idiom
suggesting an individual's circumstances or destiny. My
process of collage painting often suggests the fragmented moments
of everyday life, the evanescence of time and the mystery of
existence." |
