ARTIST STATEMENT:  Overall my work is about making opposites connect to create a poetic effect.  I look for contrasts, both those inherent in the subject and those formal ones that occur in the process of composing a work.  Although I carefully plan a composition I want media manipulation and expressive marks to push reality beyond the merely descriptive.
