Marilee’s love of pines and mountain vistas has taken her on a long
journey--from amateur sketcher as a young girl to professional painter
in her empty nest years. Self-taught, Marilee has been working at her
craft for the past seven years. In that short period of time she has
produced in excess of 250 canvases, held two solo shows (with another
upcoming at Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek in February),
exhibited all over the area, won numerous ribbons and People’s Choice
awards, helped her husband build her studio/gallery, done some judging
and built a business which includes a website (www.marileelitwa.com). She offers several sizes of digital reproductions as well as note cards,
originals, and framing. Commissions are always accepted. Marilee calls
her style “primitive realism”. She attempts to portray accurate glimpses
of the Adirondacks, vintage architecture and the farms of Washington
County. She especially likes to paint windows. She hopes to evoke
feelings of shared memory in her viewers. She wishes to thank all those
who have shown an interest in her work, as well as provide encouragement
and kind words. The passion she feels for the process has not waned in
seven years. As long as she is able, she will paint! |
