2010 GRANT RECIPIENTS ($2500 each)
List of Past Grant Recipients and their projects
Paul Chapman (painting-acrylic)
Will explore the visual interest of large machines and the people that work with them inside the Finch Paper mill. He will focus on the available light within the mill itself and how it illuminates the workplace and create 5-6 acrylic paintings on canvas.

Jonathan Newell (music composition)
Will compose a string quartet of twenty minutes for ballet, which contains six movements. It will incorporate the poetry of William Bronk, a former resident of Hudson Falls and will be danced by Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre, read by ACC professor Sheldon Hurst and performed by local quartet The Hyperion String Quartet at the Hudson Falls High School.

Robert Walp (book arts)
Will perform the printing, binding, papermaking and illustration of an entirely hand-made letterpress printed book in an edition of 40 copies. The text will consist of short passages from Verplanck Colvin’s reports to the NYS Legislature during the 28 years of his supervision of the Adirondack Survey, each passage illustrated with drawings and wood cuts.

Justin Wodicka (video/performance art)
Will use interviews collected from the greater Glens Falls area, to create a multi-media performance piece that explores the effects of the recent economic downturn on life in Upstate New York. Entitled “Beneath the Falls”, a performance and corresponding film will be presented to the public.
