the natural landscape, combined with his love of photography, has
allowed him to capture the beauty he sees through his eyes and
permanently embed it into his photographs. A Lifetime amateur

 |
|
Tony has spent decades hiking, fishing, boating, and hunting the
Adirondack Mountains. Photography has always been a hobby, but it
was just recently that he decided to spend more time capturing what he's
been seeing for years--nature's emotions as well as the detail in her
beauty. While he captures images wherever he goes, his favorite
place is, and always will be, the Adirondack Mountains. |

Tom Chesnut's work uses views of Nature without human intrusion to
convey universal messages of peace and tranquility. "I feel a
strong connection with the Natural World and this interconnectedness
shows in my work. It is my belief that all creatures (including
humans), plants and rocks of the Natural World are connected."
From his plot of woods in Sand Lake, to New York's Adirondacks and
Vermont's Green Mountains, to the national parks and alpine lakes in
Wyoming, he endeavor to show his feelings for the Natural World in his
photographs. |

Richard Cowles states, "Everything is photographable". His
favorite is abstract, which consists of close-ups, different lighting,
reflections, over-exposed, different settings on the camera, movement of
camera or object, etc. He uses a digital camera, but with the
techniques he uses, the computer is hardly used for enhancement
purposes. He also photographs local bands and musicians. |

Character of Nature Daniele Ippoliti-DeShaw
Ballston Spa, NY 12020
518-878-4837
Beethepeace@yahoo.com
www.CharacterOfNature.com
|
 |
|
Daniele Ippoliti-DeShaw often finds herself becoming one with nature
whether she is on a neighborhood walk with her young boys or in the
woods for hours by herself. This has led to her desire to expose the
lost wonders of natures little intricacies in a variety of
abstractions through photography. Sometimes this happens with a single shot of something so
up close its identity is left questionable, or arranging a single
image of nature repeatedly in a final kaleidoscope image, or taking
bits and pieces of her nature photographs and using collage
to create unique characters who come with a message. |

|
Elizabeth Mangle’s photographs and oil paintings are inspired from
actual Adirondack wilderness landscapes. She has canoed, backpacked, or
bushwhacked into very remote areas of the north woods. Their beauty
inspires her to capture the moments on film or on a canvas. Elizabeth’s
“real” day job is to conserve the natural resources of Hamilton County,
in the heart of the Adirondack Park. With the rest of her time, she
enjoys the resources that she works so hard to protect. |
Gretchen McHugh
455 Lee Rd., Granville, NY 12832
518-642-0636
Contact Gretchen |
 |
|
Since the 1980’s Gretchen has photographed the Hudson River and its people from Lake Tear of the Clouds to the Statue of Liberty.
She works in the darkroom to create 11 x 14 archival black-and-white silver gelatin prints. Having won a 2003 LARAC Individual Artists Grant, she created an exhibit called “Harnessing the Hudson”
that depicts the Hudson River’s industrial past and present between Corinth and Hudson Falls, pairing historic photographs of 19th century mills and factories with her own 21st century photos of the same sites.
Public appreciation for this project has inspired Gretchen to continue chronicling the poignant history of the Hudson River’s old mills.
She also continues to shoot portraits, close-ups of native plants, and landscapes. |

expanded her artistic scope to include digital manipulations of her
photographs, including montages, overlays, and abstract compositions.

are a painter's medium. Judy plays with her images, seeing not
only what is, but imagining what could be, and then making it happen. |

The passion to capture and share images of special events and places
takes me to some of this countries most wild, scenic and wilderness
areas. To share with others and help bring an awareness and
appreciation for this beauty is what drives me. Many of our State
and National Parks, Wilderness Areas and National Monuments are under
staffed, under funded and under siege by special interests intent on
exploiting their resources for monetary gain. I urge you to become
aware of the problems our national treasures and environment face so
that future generations may explore and marvel at the natural beauty
that we have left for them. As I have rediscovered the desire to
explore, photography has allowed me to capture rare moments and
document the striking beauty that appears and disappears in seconds. |
Ray Palmer

518-370-2921
rapalm@aol.com
www.larac.org/Ray_Palmer.htm |
 |
|
Ray Palmer is a photographer specializing in landscapes and wildlife.
He works in film format to record both planning and chance in nature
exploration. He has extensively photographed the Adirondack High Peaks
area and has shot extensive hikes and outdoor excursions in Montana and Wyoming including the Yellowstone/Teton complex; Glacier National Park; the Beartooth-Absorokas; from the White Mountains to Acadia and
Maine; the desert and high country of the Four Corners states of the
Southwest; into California and the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Costa
Rica and Caribbean destinations. Hopefully the images evoke a memory
for the observer—perhaps not the same waterfall, sunset or wild
encounter—but a window to another experience, a prod to wanderlust, and
a reminder that the earth’s treasures need our appreciation. |

Poetry Experiences for the Heart, Mind and Spirit
Susan Jefts has a chapbook called Bended Moments and has been
published in such journals as Parnassus, ByLine, Big City Lit and by
Parabalas Press. She offers a variety of poetry experiences and
workshops in settings which include retreat centers, yoga studios,
hospitals, schools, private offices and out in nature. Some workshops are centered
around a theme while others are focused on poetry and writing, but all
use poetry as a vehicle for moving more deeply into the present and
therefore into greater awareness of oneself and one's life. In
this way, the groups are valuable for writers and non writers alike.
Susan says, "We let the words and images speak to us and lead us into a
deeper place of knowing and creating." |
